Friday April 25th, 7 pm, Davis-McCann Center, 15 N. 14th Street, Murphysboro IL: Nile Breeze Dance Company and SIUC's Middle Eastern Dance Enthusiasts are hosting an evening of Middle Eastern dance, music, and food. Vendors (Tedi and Crystal) will have a selection of belly dance goodies to shop! Dancers please rsvp and bring a costume and music if you want to perform. $10 admittance will include a nice buffet of Middle Eastern and North African foods (vegetarian options included; performers get in free). Nov 7-8 2008 we are hosting internationally-renowned dancer/scholar Elizabeth Artemis Mourat (www.serpentine.org) on the SIUC campus for a lecture on Rromany dance, music and culture; an advanced workshop on Turkish Oriental dance; and a show featuring performances by Artemis plus other regional talent. May 3 & 4 Workshop & show with Kimahri of Chicago
Bellville, IL: Lotus Arts Studio, 6600 West Main, show at SWIC theater
Kimahri will be teaching FOUR mini-workshops over the weekend, including ballet skills, shimmy drills, a drum solo choreography peppered with tons of stage skills and techniques, and a class on sassy Shaabi combinations.
